On the evening of 7th July 2016, HAUTLENCE organised an event to mark the launch of its HAUTLENCE INVICTUS Vida Loca Choppers chronograph. Friends of the brand, bloggers, journalists and Vida Loca Choppers customers had the opportunity to admire this new model, limited to just 28 pieces. The event had a quirky ambiance tinged with a rebellious streak, imbued with the atmosphere of the Montreux Jazz Festival as its soundtrack: HAUTLENCE continues to rewrite the rules to the great delight of its fans.
With its mocking sneer, the stylised skull – the Vida Loca Choppers logo – appears to float weightlessly on top of the base dial. Its crown shows its colours: it is clear who is the King! The skull reigns supreme in the centre of the dial, framed by two honeycomb inserts on a black and green background. At the heart of the titanium case, measuring 42 x 49 x14 mm, throbs an automatic chronograph movement, beating at 28,800 vibrations/hour. Perfected to the very last detail, the timepiece is paired with a black “hornback” crocodile leather strap with green topstitching.
This Rock ‘n’ Roll project arose out of a meeting between Joachim Besomi (master watchmaker at HAUTLENCE and passionate biker), Sébastien Mottier (one of the owners of Vida Loca Choppers), and Manu Vionnet (the founder of Vida Loca Choppers). The partnership between HAUTLENCE and Vida Loca Choppers was an immediate and obvious connection, based on shared values: both brands want to break the rules, push the boundaries and create something unique; both have a passion for fine mechanics and design; both have a rebellious streak and a quirky style. Passionate about watchmaking, Sébastien and Manu chose the Neuchâtel-based watch brand because, like them, it creates exquisite playthings for the most exacting gentlemen: “With HAUTLENCE, it is easy to let loose, go further, faster. We love their philosophy and our customers identify with it”.
